“A single word can change the world,” a character in On The Eve says. And that is precisely what it does in the musical tale of history, science, poetry, art, politics and time travel at Theatre Three, which opened January 16, 2014.
Brainchildren of the show are SMU theatre alums Michael Federico and Seth Magill, along with Seth’s wife Shawn Magill. The production opened first as a workshop in 2012 at the Margo Jones Theatre in Fair Park’s Magnolia Lounge. The sold-out workshop received such great feedback that now it is having its professional world premiere as a part of Theatre Three’s 52nd season.
Catch the show at TheatreThree in Uptown, which plays until February 9, 2014.
Meadows’ Dance Department’s annual Sharp Show, typically performed in a studio in the basement of the Owen Arts Center, moved to the Margo Jones Theatre this year. Each year, the show features works choreographed and produced by seniors of the Division of Dance. The change of venue was not the only aspect different from past years.
Tickets were free but required for the two performances on Saturday, January 25 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m.
However, both performances were sold out at the beginning of last week, so the cast and crew decided to invite those who had not ordered tickets to Friday’s “invited dress rehearsal.”
In order to fundraise for the project, the seniors made a Kickstarter link where people could donate money to support the show.
